This lively upbeat love song was written and sung by Robert Palmer in the 80s. You can hardly stop yourself from joining in the chorus as it repeats over and over. It may not be a love ballad, but it was and is a great, jumping love song. Go ahead and see if you can listen to it and not sing along!
Chorus:
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh
yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you
know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love (Repeat)
Lionel Richie and Diana Ross sung this stunning beautiful love song written by Richie in 1981. As the name suggests, it is the joint announcement of the two of their "endless love". Others have sung it, but these two provide a harmonizing, glorious sound others could not copy. It was first released for the movie of the same name starring Brook Shields.
Significant Verse:
Two hearts, two hearts that beat as one
Our lives have just begun
Forever I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
And love I'll be a fool for you I'm sure
You know I don't mind
'Cause you, you mean the world to me
Oh, I know I found in you my endless love
This song about the heartache felt after lost love was written by Sting and first sung by The Police in 1983. This song was written during the breakup of Stings marriage. It is regarded as a popular love song, but if you really read the chorus words, it is about character that could easily be considered sinister (or a stalker).
Chorus:
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you.
Foreigner sang this powerful love ballad for the first time in 1984, which was written by Mick Jones. It was one of the top songs Foreigner has ever released and is still widely played today. It starts out slow, but increases ever so slightly as it plays. The chorus explodes each time and ends with a choir joining in to finish it off, before it fades. Powerful words and music created this stunning love song positively giving you hope that love can be found.
Significant Verse:
I'm gonna take a little time, a little time to look around me
I've got nowhere left to hide, it looks like love has finally found me
In my life there's been heartache and pain
I don't know if I can face it again
Can't stop now, I've traveled so far, to change this lonely life
Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty (with the Heartbreakers) sang this hip love song written by Petty with M. Campbell in 1981. It was Nick's debut solo album and she was well known as a Fleetwood Mac singer. It's a lively rock song about a girl who just can let go of her ex bad-boy love. How many people do you know who has a similar story to tell? Sometimes it's hard to let a love go.
Her Significant Verse:
It's hard to think about what you've wanted
It's hard to think about what you've lost
This doesn't have to be the big get even
This doesn't have to be anything at all
His Reply:
I know you really want to tell me goodbye
I know you really want to be your own girl
Chorus:
Baby, you could never look me in the eye
Yeah, you buckle with the weight of the words
Stop draggin' my heart around
Phil Collins sang this very romantic love song, which was released for the first time in 1985. He plays the piano beautifully in this great pop song that finishes off with a wonderful hypnotic trumpet. He produced this solo even though he was with Genesis at the time. This was just one of many hits sung by Collins, who has such a calming voice.
Significant Verse:
I've been sitting here so long,
Just wasting time, just staring at the phone
And I was wondering, should I call you,
Then I thought, maybe you're not alone
