Here are a few of the most common dances of the 1990s.

The Hammer Dance: Created by M.C. Hammer--who was fond of wearing baggy genie pants--this dance basically consists of someone shuffling quickly one way and then the other while their legs are wide apart and slightly bent.
The Macarena: The Macarena is a Spanish song by Los del Río about a woman of the same name, or any woman from the La Macarena neighborhood of Seville. It was very successful between 1995 and 1997. The song became the second longest running #1 and best selling debut single of all time in the US. It was ranked the "#1 Greatest One-Hit Wonder of all Time" by VH1 in 2002.
The Roger Rabbit: The Roger Rabbit became a popular dance move in the early 1990s. It was named after the floppy movements of the Roger Rabbit cartoon character. In movement, the Roger Rabbit dance is similar to the Running Man, but done by skipping backwards with arms performing a flapping gesture.
The Urkel Dance: The Urkel Dance was a novelty dance that originated on a television sitcom titled Family Matters. It was based around the character of Steve Urkel and essentially incorporated movements which made the dancer's posture more like his. The lyrics instructed the dancer how to pose: "If you want to do the Steve Urkel dance, all you have to do is hitch up your pants, bend your knees, and stick out your pelvis; (I'm telling you, baby, it's better than Elvis!)". Jaleel White also performed the song, in character as Steve Urkel, on the 5th Annual American Comedy Awards with Bea Arthur.
Vogueing: Vogueing, a 'pose' dance popularized by Madonna incorporating the struts and stances of high fashion models.
